It's a harder piece but not rigid enough to break when you push together the 2 'fingers' on either end. Frankie
Definitely looks and sounds like it is supposed to be there then. It's clearly a moulding to guide or protect something passing through something else. I would tend to go with the view its supposed to sit in the bulkhead somewhere and let something pass through it. But an online search hasn't turned anything up.

Same conclusion and same result. We need someone who dismantles z3s regularly to see if they can recognise it.

I'll take one final look around, especially the wiring and the hose line coming through the fire wall before I close it all up. Thanks guys. Frankie
 
I've got mine with me at work after reading this put on ramp stripped lower cowling can't see anything obvious that looks like that :(
 
It looks familiar to me but i cannot for the life of me think where from as said it isn't holding anthing of pressure and shows no wear so its one of those dam parts that we sometimes finish a job with thats left over :whistle:
 
Suppose that's also possible that it's something that's been trapped somewhere behind the dash
