My E85 Z4 has just failed an MOT for having an issue with a ball joint causing play in the wheel (and also for having worn rear tyres).
I've spoken to a local Indy BMW specialist about the repair and have been told that to replace a ball joint I need to change the whole swing arm and the bushes too. Before speaking to any garages I did some youtube research (and found out the job is beyond my skill level) but found plenty of videos of just the ball joints being replaced. Most videos were based on the E46 3 series but I was under the impression that most parts of the E85 were burrowed from that model.
Is the mechanic correct or is he wrong/trying to have my pants down?
