Right I have a 2002 1.9i z3 and all is fine but I have a annoying problem.
The cab heater blows cold or very hot there is no half way.
When I first had the car I fitted a new cab heater valve and changed the main radiator and thermostat.
How dose the system set the cab temp is it by mixing cold and warm air or is the another valve in the hot water delivery system I have missed.
Any help please or a link would help.
Fan in blower works at all speeds.

Yes, but for the life of me I can't remember exactly what.

I'm pretty sure @Brian H posted the solution to this and it's a rheostat you access under the front windscreen scuttle (but don't quote me!)

Thanks gaz looks like it might be a cable problem on the blend door need to do a little dismantling to take a look.
Mind if I drop the roof at the moment max heat is needed anyway :)

The rheostat under the front scuttle is for the heater blower speeds if I remember correctly.

Tony.

^^ correct Tony, there is an adjustment you can make with the blend cable, this is located in the drivers side footwell just behind the centre console. I have a pic somewhere that I'll dig out.

Does your reply mean it's knackered then Jim?
I would think so but the best thing is pull it out and check to see if it has a spring or whatever normally holds it open is broken. Nothing in the service manual about it either. JIM

I think that they rely on friction to hold the position, easily repaired I would have thought.

Tony.

I'm pulling him out tomo to put the spacers on. I'll have a look at the vent as well.
I think once you get it out you'll see right away what the problem is. If it can't be fixed, which I doubt, there's always the one on eBay UK. Let us know how you make out. JIM
