C110+ scanner

Hi all
I have the ABS light and warning triangle illuminated on my dashboard.
I have been told that this could be a speed sensor on one of the wheels I have been given a C110+ scanner but it does not seem to want to read or connect to my Z3 1998 2.8 via the 20 pin socket.
I can plug it in select manually Z series it will then look as though it's running through a cycle but comes up with an error code asking me to check the cables but all seems okay.
Is this scanner not working because it is a 110+ scanner does this make any difference

Hi Simon, I think you need to connect to the connector under the bonnet to access most systems, not the one under the dash.

I have connect to the one under the bonnet using the adapter, but it comes up with an error asking to check connections.
Having the C 110+ Is this right for my model 2.8 1998 or should it be an older type of reader or does the plus mean just a newer model.

I’ve had of those communication problems with my C310. I’ve put it down to possible damaged clock console which is going off to be looked at and repaired if required. After several attempts I’ve been able to reset the airbag though but before I was able to read live data from the engine.

You don’t have to have the engine running but the ignition needs to be on.

The + is a software update I updated my firmware to the +

Hi Simon, that was all I could suggest. Maybe Mark's comment on an upgrade might help.

I have never been able to access the ABS module on my car with any of the after market scanners. You need to use INPA with an ADS reader.

I understand that some crossover models between prefacelift and facelift can be read but most likely you will need INPA and ADS through an old RS232 port on an old laptop.
You cannot access the ABS module through a USB port.
