Those people selling the over priced parts on ebay - where do you think they get their stock? They just go to the main dealer. buy some parts and then go home and flog them on eBay.
In fact they probably don't buy the parts from the main dealer until somebody clicks the ebay buy button.
Too many people looking for parts for old cars just go first to ebay because they assume the main dealer won't have the parts.
But it's also google. Excellent search engine that some people just trust too much. Search for any part via google and you can be pretty sure that ebay is close to the top of the results page.
