Didn't want to HiJack the CD Changer thread.

In the trunk, even where no CD Changer is fitted, there's a big rectangular bulge wasting space. (Top left corner)

That's hollow. Just covers the brackets if a changer was fitted. Otherwise it's a waste of trunk space.

I want to get rid of that bulge. I believe there's a trim available from BMW that doesn't have that bulge (Maybe for cars that haven't been pre-wired for cd changer?) so I could probably buy the proper trim.

I'm probably going to buy that bulge-less trim (if it exists).

But, just out of curiosity, has anyone ever simply 'chopped' that bulge out of the trim and, using sections of the chopped out bits, restitched it back together and made it look half way decent?

Ask for a "humpless" boot carpet in the wanted section. I bought one from Andy @spurs fan in a coupe may have one. And you're right it does give much more boot space.

When I removed my CD changer, I found some grey car carpet and made a replacement section. It looked OK but I later found a genuine humpless section from a forum member.

Usually see them as rear and left side carpet set £40 -60 depending on condition seems to be the going rate.

I just cut out the bulge, and stuck a piece of it over the hole in the boot lining using impact adhesive - you have to look twice to see it.
