Built in Satnavs

When i got our X3 which has the MK4 Built in Satnav. I did a lot of digging around to see about getting it upgraded as i do not know when it was last done. After lots of researching i came accross this site which does most Bmw Satnav upgrades for a fraction of the cost of Main dealer. I will let everyone know how i get on when my Discs arrive. All I know on the subject that the Nav fitted in my 2003 Z4 was horrendous. I gave up eventually and then bought a standalone unit. Would love to know how well these update the older systems...

I can remember sitting on my drive with my laptop running Google maps, so I could try and manually input one particular destination.

I spoke to the bloke today and he told me you get camera alerts day night mode and lots more. Plus he is putting an X3 logo on it

My 2005 Touareg has built in sat nav and has the original disc and tbh it could do with an upgrade but it has never let us down yet. I will try and see if there's a similar site for VW. I don't suppose you saw one whilst digging did you Bill?

@BMBabe If you have google maps on your phone, it has a built in Sat Nav system now that gives directions and turn by turn. best of all its free.

I had a French girlfriend years ago and I came to the conclusion that it's the way they wrap their tongues around the words, like French kissing but verbally. JIM

Google maps does need data to work, but, it recalculates your journey time constantly and offers a different route if a faster one is found. It only gives audible directions and not the tom tom type display. Our zed satnav has failed to get us to two post codes this week. My Landy has never let me down but it does have a tendency to send you a much longer route on occasions. Overall tom tom with traffic is excellent.
