So it was a fairly wet day today and the misses b******* off with her friends and that left me some time to ‘tinker’ :D

I previously made a sub enclosure utilising the space between the roll hoops and used a JL Audio 6w3v3 sub. It’s good and very happy with it, but as I have 2 Zeds it just meant swapping it between them both - as I’ve upgraded the audio in both.

So around Xmas I found sourced a JL audio 8w3v3 sub, which I thought I could fit. I started to build another enclosure and then left the project as the depth of the 8” sub was too much, and I needed time to consider options.

Well I had to enlarge the mounting lid, both in terms of width and height. I had fun shaping the lid with my orbital sander.

Ohhhh not much room at the bottom of the magnet

The enclosure I gave the inside a quick rattle can of satin black and then covered with acoustic carpet.

The lid I covered in some black leather.

Quite happy with the end result.

Just got to order a sub mesh grill and all sorted

Now both my Zeds have a sub each at last!

Very productive day...... just not sure the misses would think so =))

This looks amazing!! Excellent, clean work! Do you happen to have a parts list or schematic w/dimensions that I can follow to make one look as good as yours to match the first images from your original post? Anything would help. Thanks! Cheers!

Superb job, very impressive!
I'm assuming you've done some work on the other bits, so what are the possibilities of upgrading the two rear speakers behind the seats? I want to upgrade all four speakers in mine, haven't even looked yet so no idea of how they're fitted or what room there is for improvement. Can you give any tips to a lazy so-and-so?

Not much room at all behind the trim to fit any decent sized rear speakers (depth is the main issue). To be perfectly honest, replacing the front footwell and door tweeters is your best option. Especially if you are adding an amp.

I have no door tweeters either!! The space behind the tweeter cover is just empty on both doors. Are these difficult to retrofit, is the wiring already there?

Wiring should be in place already. Should be a twisted 2 wire (yellow and black) with a black or purple connector.

Good to hear!! All I need to do now is locate the tweeters. Must be a set for sale somewhere!
By the way: is there just one per door, despite two holes in behind?
