The build date on my M44 is 2nd April 1997. Just wondering if there are there many earlier Z3s out there?

That is when the car was registered.Date first registered 20/6/1997
That means it was sold fairly quickly after arriving here.Just had a look under bonnet build date April 97.![]()
Strongly suspect the first owner was the dealer. All the extras fitted, low miles and the time scale all ring bells as a demo.Mine was built on 2 April 1997, first registered with DVLA on 30 May 1997. Clearly shipped to UK shortly after being built. The BMW Anti-theft System 3G.EWS was installed on 27 May 1997 (by a BMW dealer). Price of new car approached £30K, with all options (the original owner liked options thankfully!) as fitted (taken from January 1997 price list).
The first owner only kept the car for circa 6 months (covered 1K miles) and it was sold by a main BMW dealer on 14 January 1998 for £26,500.00 (have this receipt and all subsequent receipts).
Thats a cool fact.Mine is the 24th March 1997
I was born on the 25th April 1997
So its exactly a month and a day older than me
Should be Steve as production ran from 1995 to 2002.So the question is now is there a forum member out there with a P reg zed 3 that was built in 1996 and not 97 ????![]()
Hadn't thought of that @Grumps . You are almost certainly correct I would think. Car has all available options at the time (including rear spoiler), except auto transmission and (perhaps oddly) ASC+T (£490), likely not considered necessary for a demonstrator.Strongly suspect the first owner was the dealer. I was in the motor trade for a few years mate and i can't imagine it was any different back then to when I was in it. I'm sure if you can find the original dealer stamp, maybe in the front of the service book you'll be able to answer the question.Hadn't thought of that @Grumps .
