Broken Aerial

Ok so my aerial is broken, was broken when I bought the car. I initially intended to fix it properly however as its just for weekends etc and Im going to upgrade stereo to a bluetooth one for linking to phone I dont think I need it.
Do you think I can just stick a new one in as a dummy one? Im guessing there is no chance it will screw in and it it does it will work?
Ive had a quote for one that includes the aerial plus the internal parts and its about £50 (2nd hand). I may not even need it and the new stereo is gonna cost about £100 so thinking its a wasted expense and time?
What do you think. Any thoughts, advice and experiences much appreciated.

You could always buy and use one of these to plug the hole when you have removed the broken aerial.

I can't tell from your picture but the antenna is supposed to screw in there. If the stud is broken off in there a reverse-twit drill bit and/or screw extractor should be able to back it out. A variety of aftermarket parts will fit it including the little stubby rubber ones like this:
