bear in mind some of these z3's are now over 20 years old some breakdown companies dont cover cars over 15 years old

any recommendations ?

I use start rescue and have my Zed and Kia on the same policy. I am the only driver and currently paying pay 68.50 for national recovery to get me back home.
It’s the only company I’ve ever used where the policy premium has dropped each year as never claimed.
Don’t have home start option ....if it don’t start then I won’t go out =))

Have been using these guys for seveal years. Well regarded (check MoneySavingExpert) and had been paying £45. Big increase this year as they get well established to £60.

This covers you not the car. So you are covered in anything you drive.

And that is an excellent reminder I need to get my daughter a policy.

Our insurer (nfu) provide a basic RAC cover ,I then opt to increase the cover at a cost of £29 54 per year.

And you get free spouse cover too.

I've been with these for last two years (touch wood, not used as yet). After being with RAC for donkeys years whilst I was working overseas so my wife had good cover if she broke down (used twice in 25 years), the last renewal quote they sent me was ridiculous. When I rang up RAC I said doesn't loyalty count at all, basically NO. I said I'm not shelling out £135, so its RAC's loss and I made sure my call expressed my feelings on the matter. Probably didn't do any good but I felt better!!!

Had breakdown insurance with my HSBC account covered me and the wife in any of our cars, this year they ended the scheme, it had risen over the years to £12 month which I thought was quite a lot. Took out a new policy with Autoaid for personal cover which includes the spouse in any car we might be in at the time of a breakdown, all in £59.99b which I thought quite acceptable given the cover you get. One breakdown would cost in excess of that just to get recovered to a garage.
Not had to use it and hope I never will but at least its there if needed.

This looks good, they also cover when towing a caravan (I don’t tow with the Zed;))Are they like green flag and use local garages?

AA for me with a raft of cover and bonuses.

Got full cover with the AA which I have had for years, not cheap but I have always found their service A1. When I could not get my TR4 to start the AA man spent hours working on the distributor which had developed a partly collapsed bearing and got
it going

I've got RAC recovery cover including Eurocover as an extra to a bank account. They bought my Zed home from Belgium after the head gasket blew while driving near Brugge a couple of years ago.

I'm using GEM Motoring Assist. At around a hundred notes for complete cover with recovery for me and my wife, covering any car we are driving, it was half what the RAC wanted. I haven't had to use them yet, but guys on the MG board I frequent reckon they are excellent. And you get a very nice Guild of Experienced Motorists magazine every quarter!
