Its time to renew my Breakdown assistance i need cover for 2 cars one being my daily driver a Suzuki S cross and the other my Z just been looking on Google and a lot ie Green Flag etc will not cover cars over 16 year old has any one got a recommendation ?

I have the AA (full montey) through my Bank, no issue with the age of my Z3.

I have AA personal cover ( to cover me in anyone's car ( gold member )) now.
Be honest never had to use it and between the skoda and the 2 zeds rack up to 40k a year but its the piece of mind as I do about 25 - 30 k in the skoda and got 2 forum Scottish runs (inc recce) and a Lakes run in the Zed if it does go wrong I make a call and I'm going home with car on wagon.

I have the same cover here Stephen. @Stevo7682 , through our Royal Automobile club of Victoria, it covers me in any car I’m driving, anywhere in Australia. Great peace of mind, especially when out in old vehicles.

https://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk is recommended on Money Supermarket. They do car or person-based cover and allow cars over 16 yrs (with c.£20 ish premium over younger cars). They don’t have their own fleet and use local recovery guys.

I currently don’t have breakdown so will prob get the person-based cover with them at some point soon

Brilliant service, never waited for more than 30 minutes which includes the waiting time ror a recovery truck.
Swapped to them a few years ago after being left waiting in a car for 8 hours by the RAC. Simply the best service and has great reviews.
Covers driver in any car or motorcycle.

How much is GEM a year pls? Auto Aid in my post above is about £75 for a Z (over 16 yrs etc), and presumably a little bit more for the personal cover (mebs £80-90 ish, not certain tho).

The GEM site is having maintenance at the moment so best give them a call, I seem to remember it being about £80 but you can add spouse or whole family membership.

With my RAC cover, I had a tyre burst on my Harley at the MOT station. They refused to pick it up as it wasn't MOT'd even though it was at the MOT station and had been booked in. Took 2 days off arguing to get them to pick it up.
I had a car break down on the way to an MOT with GEM and when I reported the breakdown I told them it had no MOT as it was going in for the MOT. Simple reply..........."No problem"
