Gail’s E89 has just failed it’s MoT. The rear wheel replaced last year and done less than 1,000 miles has just failed it’s MoT because of a crack. Enough stress the last week. Not amused at this either.
When I looked I found the guy had told me it wasn’t the off-side wheel (which was replaced) but the near-side that had failed. Not made me feel any better though.Fragile rims and run flats are a fragile combination Ian. I feel for you mate.
Tony.
Would love to - but, I wouldn't want Gail stranded with a flat out in the country. Don't have them on mine.Get the RFs off mate
Only a slight improvement mate, sorry to hear it happened and it's still an expensive repair. When I looked I found the guy had told me it wasn’t the off-side wheel (which was replaced) but the near-side that had failed. Not made me feel any better though.
Pump and a bottle of slime. RFs are not much use tbh. They wont get you home just off a motorway or such. Many cases of them failing completely and being useless.Would love to - but, I wouldn't want Gail stranded with a flat out in the country. Don't have them on mine.
It’s just getting to a place of safety tbh. Using a can of slime on a dark night down a country lane isn’t something I’d want to do on some roads. Getting home would be a bonus. Got to remember it was a daily for 5 years. Still got many miles left on the tyres. Would rather have 18” wheels with a bit more sidewall give. It’s the wheels themselves not being strong enough to cope.Pump and a bottle of slime. RFs are not much use tbh. They wont get you home just off a motorway or such. Can bet it was the problematic 326 style. They’re the main standard wheels.Thats unfortunate Ian .
Have mot 2 z4 I the last 3 yr with cracked rear wheels.
One was last year a 2016 2.0 in for its 1st mot 23k on clock cracked rear wheel I should have paid more attention to the design of rim that was fitted . ( may have a picture of it though need to look )
Stephen .
