First off, there seems to be a ton of information out here. I'm sure it will come in handy, so far I've learned that I can change my own oil and reset the service lights.... that was something I was worried about, I usually change my oil in all my vehicles and motorcycles. I feel comfortable doing that sort of work.

My questions are these:

1: My Airbag(not the wife) light stays on constantly. Not sure if that's suppose to happen or not?? I'm assuming not.
2: My A/C isn't working, the guy I bought the vehicle from said it was the clutch on the compressor. I know that in my Ford I can simply remove the compressor and or clutch and replace it fairly easy... Should I even attempt to do this with the Z3?
3: There's a toggle switch in the center console, it appears the car has been equipped with an aftermarket anti theft system(at least there's a brochure in the glove box). I think maybe that's what the toggle switch is for?? Just not sure.
4: I cranked the wheel this morning to maneuver around my truck and I noticed after about 3 minutes of sitting there with the wheel cranked over, there was a leak of a red like oil(it looks like power steering fluid to me) it was behind the left side front tire(as you're sitting in the vehicle)... I refrain from using "Drivers Side" because let's face it, seems in this forum, that can be either side of the vehicle :) But getting to work, there is no leak, no sign of one whatsoever... Did I crank the wheel too much and leave it in that position to create enough pressure to possibly push out fluid??

Air bag light is likely to be a fault under the seat with the seat belt pretentioner , its commin they come dislodged with seat movement. It may be fixed but it has to be switched out it won't go off.
The air con i would feed the clutch the terminal is to the top of the unit under the hood on the left should be a positive terminal just take a wire from it and feed the pump and see if it engages .If it does check the switches light on the dash its likely to want charging the clutch will not engage if no coolant in the system.
The switch on the earlier alarm was to turn of the ultra sonic sensors these should be on the wind screen in the top corners. This is usually a switch that is part of the led warning light, a toggle switch seems odd my be its been added.
The power steering i would clean it all off and keep an eye on it

Thank you for the info... I haven't noticed any leak since leaving the house this morning.
I will look at the seat belt pretentioner and check the other things as well.
I do intend to take the car to the mechanic that the previous owner said has been working on it for the past 10 years or so, hopefully he's helpful and fills me in on a lot of stuff with the car.

I absolutely love the thing, smiling the whole time I'm driving it. I'm thinking I need to get a front license plate from Germany, just feels right LOL

They are a great car and its not really till you actually own one that you realise what its all about..

Oh no don't!;) I love to see cars without front plates when we're over at our place in Florida. I regularly see a red Z4 at the car rental place at OIA, it looks great without being cluttered up with the front no. plate.:)

:welcome: to the forum from West Cumbria, England. I would suggest that you have a seal that is on its way out if you've noticed small leak, as Ant says, keep an eye on it.

Power steering could be leaking into the gater and only coming out on full lock probably a very small leak.

My '2000 Roadster had weak A/C. If your compressor clutch turns when the A/C is turned on, consider using a refrigerant called A/C Pro. It worked great for me.

Yep, had some of that myself ;) it was a simple 5amp fuse and a recharge with the ACPro and it's cool as a cucumber now ;)

Thank you

my air bag was the same on all the time you need a bmw srs reset tool £ 12 from e/bay if there is a fault & you clear it the lamp wont go off without reset tool.
