Never done this before, so been playing with my new flaring tool.

Assuming that the ends are flared correctly should it be like the top picture or the bottom picture?? Ie the correct flare in the right fitting. I’m pretty sure that it should not look like the little piece flared on the right.... that was just playing .... honest

The left hand flare top picture does reduce the ID of the tube..... is that normal ??

Grateful for help on this as fairly important to get it right:eek:

Where I used to get pipes made as a teenager Mick Clark used to drill out the pipe back to 1/8” something I have never bothered to do. The dolly which forms the flare, in my humble opinion, should leave the correct size for fluid movement.
Top picture in general is how they work but in some applications (mainly Asian cars) the convex end is used with a male union Malc. I would just say perhaps the convex flare maybe needs to be tightened a bit more to make the “cup” a little deeper?

Tony.

You learn something every day even at my age, never dared use that type of equipment as brakes are something of such importance I only buy new parts. Tony's the man. Best of luck Malc as this old git still drives too fast to chance his arm, sorry can't help you much. Lol
