My s***'s custom!
Hi, I'm swapping out my brake pads at the weekend for some low dust alternatives (Redstuff). I need to get the new ones ordered but I'm brand new to working on my own cars having spent many years handing money to others to get their hands dirty.

Before I order can someone reassure me that I've selected the correct ones please.

My car is a 2004 3.0 but it appears that at least the front calipers have been upgraded to "///M" ones but I'm not as confident about the spec of the rears.

Should I be buying pads from the 2006-2009 ///M for all four corners or just the front and get 2004 3.0 ones for the back?

Any advice from someone with more knowledge than me on this matter would be greatly appreciated. (Admittedly the list of folk with more knowledge than me is vast and probably includes my pet guinea pigs!)

Yes the pads will need to match the calipers, so if they are ///M ones then buy the pads for those. I'm not aware of the difference or how to tell if they are Z4M or from another ///M model though. Have you not changed pads on this previously or are they still what were on there when you bought it from Neil?

Yeah. I've just nipped to a bmw specialist who has steered me right so I know which ones to buy.....although he said not to bother. Apparently the difference in "low dust" pads is negligible. He's running yellow stuff on his own m3 and say there's a difference in stopping power but not in the dust they create.

Can only comment with the difference between standard and Redstuff, (Z3M) the Redstuff produces a lot less dust, also work very well when hot but not so good when cold, you need to step on the brakes a bit harder when they're cold but the hotter they get the better they seen to work, I found the standard ones a little scary TBH when hot.
