Sorry everybody I am sure this has been asked many times....

What brand brake pads do people recommend for slightly spirited driving? (from experience)

Genuine?
Brembo?
EBC?

Thanks

Depends on driving style..lots use EBC Yellow and they will be my choice next. Had Brembo on my 1.9 and they seemed pretty good too

Used ebc red stuff on my Ms and very good, hotter they got the better they work. Use Brembo on the e89, less horses so less braking required.:thumbsup:

I have red stuff in my turbo car but loved the yellow stuff in the past and would use these any day on the street. They produce far less dust on the wheels.

I have had the follow on my car over the years.
Brembos, good but very dirty.
Red stuff, very high performance
Yellow, good performance with very little dust.

I think EBC's green stuff is probably the one for me as my z is primarily a daily with some spirited driving

Unless anyone has had some bad experiences with them, I think they are probably a good choice

Have not used the Green stuff but looking at a few review they are no better or worse than oem but with less dust. Also noted EBC recommend upto cars with 200bhp so maybe you might consider the Red stuff. Hopefully someone else on here who’s used them might be able to provide a better insight.

Greenstuff used to be low dust, but not any longer - the last pads I bought left the wheels filthy, so I reverted to Redstuff, which do not generate any dust and work fine in any conditions, from around town to descending a steep alpine pass.

Good to know!

As a bit of long term planning…

what brake disks pair with the EBC pads well?

Only asking because I’ve heard mixed reviews of EBC disks

I have used Redstuff for about twenty years, originally with Black Diamond drilled and grooved discs, and currently with drilled discs from German & Swedish (can't remember the make) both of which worked fine. I also use Redstuff on the Golf TDI, again with German & Swedish drilled discs with no problems. Here in France we do not have mini roundabouts and traffic lights sprinkled like confetti, contributing to a typical life for pads and discs of about 100,000 miles.

I do not regard the type or make of discs as being important in conjunction with particular pads, but drilled discs have the advantage that they break up the film of water which can accumulate on a disc, and also provide a path to remove the gas which can be produced by pads at high temperatures.
