So, does your top's mechanism work as it should? These files (attached) might help.
Yes the top did work..pump works, micro switch tested good.. I,m certain its the brake switch not sending a foot on the pedal signal, hence my brake lights don't work either..

If it is the brake light switch you've only been without brake lights since the point when you put the roof down. It works both ways?
If you pull the (2 wire?) connector off the switch and bridge it with a split pin and the brake lights work (with ignition on) then the roof should also work.

There are two sets of contacts fitted in the brake light switch in my 2002. This may help...

Although a different diagram to the one @Rudyrov posted, a similar set up. (Mine has DSC, not ASC)

You can prove the switch by bridging pins 1 & 2. The brake lights should light.

One way of “testing” the switch is to press the pedal and release it very quickly by sliding your foot off the side and allowing it to spring back up. It can jar the contacts and make it work.it won’t cure it but it will point you in the right direction.

Top stuff, It did test out to be the switch, and a few flicks with a screw driver got it working again, albeit probably temporarily, new one is on the way. And yes it did throw a code, but you would think that this kind of fail would flash a dash warning at you hey ?...
