Brake Advise.

Hey Guys & Girls.

Firstly, thank you for the welcome last week. Been to busy driving around the block, to log back on. Now haven driven around in circles at the ago of 49, i'm getting an idea of what's need on the car. I'm new to the Z3 and need some advice on brakes, both front and rear brakes require replacing, disc, pads, shoes for the handbrake, etc.... I know i also have a sticky calliper N/S/F, the car has only done about 3k in 5 years. every year for an MOT and service.
Due to this, I would like to replaced the brakes callipers too as they seem relatively cheep. Can anyone suggest a good brand to go for, I'm not looking to upgrade whats standard, but do prefer quality, do i need to do hoses?? 2000-W 2.0ltr... Thank you..

Firstly you need to know that front calipers are reasonably inexpensive, however the rear ones are no where near the same. Do some research and see what the best is that you can find, price wise. Regarding the parking brake shoes, when you strip the rears do not be surprised to find that the parking shoe back plates are rotten and MAY need replacement. If you want to replace the hydraulic hoses I would suggest fitting Stainless Steel hoses.

Hey Tony, thank you for this info. I’ve recently picked the car up, it’s been in the family since day one. I have seen the back plates are fairly inexpensive and have been pleasantly surprised on the price of parts in general. I’m having to explain all this to the wife too!

Good advice from @t-tony all round, regarding replacement Calipers as he says shop around for best price usual suppliers Eurocarparts, their online sister site Carparts4less who are usually cheaper than the Euro site and Autodoc, Carparts in Motion sell on ebay as well as their own site and worth checking out.be prepared for longer delivery time from the latter but they do offer a wide range of brands and low prices. As he says the rear Calipers cost more than the fronts and can be hard to find.
