Has anyone ever documented how to swap a boot lid ? My current one has the fittings/holes for a BMW rack but since I've been unable to find one (or at least one without having to take out a second mortgage), I have just bought a replacement boot in the same colour without the fittings instead.

thanks

Mark around the hinges with a thin Sharpie. Disconnect all wiring and attach a strong thin string (paracord is good) to each and mark where they go. All the wires come out of the one hole at the left front corner (loom of doom). The struts pop off when you ease back the security clips (just at the boot lid end). Remove hinge fixings and lift it off.
When refitting I fold a cloth into a thick square pad and place one in each corner to sit the lid on while you fit the bolts back into the hinges (good to have an assistant at this stage) align the hinges with the Sharpie line and nip them. Refit the struts at the boot lid end and push the security clips back into place. Pull the wiring back into place. Test the boot release works before closing the boot lid.

Tony.

I would guess you'll need to put your original lock on the new lid. They're easy enough to do. Just take picture as you progress. As for the light gasket, I think that would make sense, unless you can leak test it before you fit the lid?
