Boot lock issue

So another minor issue has popped up this evening. I sent my lad out to put some bits into the boot and he used the key to unlock the boot, which is probably the first time the key has been used in 17years. The key then got a bit stuck and the car alarm went off.
The boot opened though, and we reset the car alarm.
After a bit of a wiggle the key finally came out, but now it won't lock, neither on the central locking, nor using the key.
The key simply won't rotate and the central locking doesn't lock the boot either. If we lock the car with the boot lid closed, it simply opens again and teh alarm goes off.
When using the key to try and lock the boot, it as absolutely solid and will not rotate.
Any ideas?

If you remove the plastic covers from the boot lid and get a small torch you'll be able to see what's wrong like as not. If you remove the release button soak it in a pot of diesel or thin oil.

Thanks Tony. I've taken the plastic cover off and sprayed the internal of the lock with WD40, but it's still stuck fast. The lock looks fine when I take the cover off, but I'm not sure what I'm looking at.
I'll get a picture from Google and see how it's meant to be.
A bit more info from Ethan is that the car was unlocked when he went out, but the boot wasn't unlocked??, so he used the key to open the lock. As he turned the key, he pressed the lock button on the key by mistake, hence locking the car, and then setting the alarm off.
Pesky kids!

I'll see what I can come up with Phil.

When you look inside there should be 2 toggle bars attached to the locking mech, see if one has come off and jammed the mech, also get wd inside the lock itself

So, I’ve just come back to this after taking an hour to watch the footie and I had a brain wave. The lock was absolutely solid when trying to unlock the key, to the point where the key was flexing, so a mechanical issue was not front and foremost in my mind. It was just too strong. I’ve just gone through the 3 fuses, removing one at a time and checking the lock and on the 2nd fuse the boot lock freed up.
So, an electrical issue, but now appears sorted.
Thanks everyone!

This is interesting - not for you @Philpatton obviously. This sounds like my boot lock problem in part.

I pulled one fuse at a time and tried the lock. I think the car got confused when Ethan unlocked the car, but locked out with the key in the boot lock.

I’ll try the same in daylight. 3 fuses, you say? All for the boot lock or central locking in general?
