Boot light

Hi everyone just looking for your thoughts.
As per title when I purchased my car it had no boot light nothing just 2 wires dangling I assume it got broken or removed because of a battery drain I suffered but now all fixed no more dead battery so the boot light wasn't the culprit.
I E should I just leave well alone or put a new holder in ? Should I buy an original or one of these LED ones of eBay or original with LED bulb?
My only fear is if I fit it back will I suffer flat battery's again I have read so much on here they are the culprit of flat battery's I don't want to go there again.
Ps I can live without it any thoughts on a post card.

Don't have a bulb in mine, never have and have no intentions of putting one in. I have a torch on my mobile and always carry a small pen torch in the car.

If you have only got the wires, why don't you get the light bulb holder to cover the hole and not install a bulb. That way at least the hole is covered.

Then try it with a bulb in, if you then find the battery is draining, remove the bulb.

Refit it and check if light stays on using mobile phone record method. If it stays on adjust or fix the switch. You can check the switch operation with the lid open by inserting a screwdriver or bar into the aperture.

I'm the same as Andy. Never had one and never will.
I'e never had to find anything in the boot in the dark...
When/if I do I'll use the light on my phone

I must have a look at my boot bulb holder - never noticed it lighting so may be now is the time to fix it - and keep an eye on it. Thank you @Tracy Dee for the prompt!

I'm with @Andy McDonnell. The holder is there to keep it tidy but no bulb.

Thanks everyone for the advice general consensus looks to be buy a bulb holder unit to attach the dangling wires and leave the bulb out.
Next stop finding a used holder to cover the hole and attach the wires to tidy things up.

When I got my Z there was no bulb in place so I got one of the cree ones off ebay, it works fine and the fact that I have a light means that it has to work even though O never use it at night, I'm just a bit anal like that, it would wind me up if it didn't have a bulb in it

I replaced my boot light with LED strips from @t-tony . I just left the hole empty, it is not visible
