Afternoon you lovely Z lovers haha

Just wondering if anyone has a boot lining or plastics on the inner of the boot lid? I'm getting a lot of condensation on the boot lid which is starting to get annoying as anything in the boot is getting damp.

the carpet still feels dry just starting to annoy me with the condensation on the metal

As always any help is much appreciated

Only the ///M has a carpet fitted to the voot lid. I have seen members make them and fit them to trim the boot off and others have brought the part from bmw around the £50 but the last i read from someone that brought one that it was the last one in stock, as to weather thats right only BMW will give you the answer.
It may be cheaper for you to template and cut from ply and cover with a grey acoustic cloth.

That's what I did for ours, plywood base covered in car carpet from an auto trimmer and some 1/2 turn clips from BMW.

Might be worth checking there is no water lying in the side wells. On the right side you just take the plastic tray out - on the left you have to lift the carpet/liner to access where the aerial is and the void where the `tilt' box would be fitted.

Just a thought but our 3 brake light seal was failing and that introduced water and condensation fixed it no condensation.i think you have a little puddle in there somewhere.the ariel grommet sometimes gives a problem our tilt sensor in the wheel well was swimming

I also had to replace my antenna rubber seal on the body. The well was filled with water. I must check the top boot mount break light seal as this might be leaking. @GazHyde can give you info on that if you need it. I don't know if mine is leaking as I've had a cover on the Zed. Frankie

Just a thought but have you checked your Battery box, as water seeping into the boot seems to collect in there.

Didn't think about the antenna seal tbh @franki will be sure to check that out.
As for the batter box @EnthuZiaZT it's bone dry. Maybe I'm just being too picky haha

2 weeks bed rest so no work being done on the z I'm afraid but when I'm back up and at it I will make sure to update

Hi all. Couldn't find a thread on insurance, but I am sure some of you fine fellows will be able advise on classic insurance. Is it available for 2001 Zeds or are they too young? I can insure my 47 year old Lotus as a classic and with agreed value.
thanks
Chris

Hi
I've got classic insurance on my 2001 model from Footman James, only snag was I had to join the BMW club if it was less than 20 years old.

Every insurance company has their own rules, as to how old the car has to be to get classic car insurance. So you have to shop around to get the best deal, as you would with any other car insurance.

Made a boot lid trim panel up for the Z3 whilst waiting for parts for the Z4. Hardboard backing panel covered in grey van lining fabric and secured with some shortened stainless self tappers being careful not to let them push up the outer surface of the boot lid. Panel sits in the lid depression so it dosn't impinge on the boot space. Looks a better finish than the bare lid.

After making a trim panel for the Z3 boot, treated the Z4 to the same today.

Hi, I am a single mum who knows a little bit about cars but I’m really not very handy when it comes to things like the above, is there anyone within 30 miles of Birmingham I could bring my Z3 (2001) to for someone to fit a boot lid cover like those pictured? I’m sick and tired of the water everytime I open my boot, no matter how little rain we get and how many times
I dry it! Thanks
