Guys

Ever since we had the Z3, the bonnet release has seemed a bit "dead" when pulling (If you see what I mean.) Today, the bonnet wouldn't latch when closed. On looking the latches were not returning. Managed to get them out by tapping each latch with a small hammer.
From what I can see, these are sealed units-is that right? Can they be dismantled for cleaning etc, and are they easy to remove?

Many thanks.

You can remove them and access some of the internals, give them a good soak in wd40 the a good dose of spray white grease

Are they easy to remove? Just the three screws?

Also it might be an idea to mark the position of the screw heads with a thin Sharpie to aid in the refitting.

I wouldn't bother messing about trying to clean them, they were only a little over a tenner each from bmw last I bought some.
