It would appear that as well as Silverstone classic to celebrate the BMWCC 60th year there is a bit of a shindig at Gaydon (wherever that is) and I was caught by what they said, and I quote

"The annual National Festival once again returns to the Heritage Motor Museum in Gaydon CV35 0BJ on 19th August 2012.
This year's event will be the culmination of our 60th Anniversary celebrations and will include activities on Saturday 18th with a party in the evening ahead of the main festival on Sunday 19th.
Expect to see 1000's of BMWs, specialist register displays, a huge range of traders and the best presented BMWs in the country as they compete in the National Concours finals."

The important bit is "specialist register displays" now I sort of know we are only a part of the zregister so to speak but should we not be talking to BMWCC about doing something to show our support for the brand. I think it would be shamefull for us an active forum to be backwards in coming forward if you know what I mean.

What do others think? (can we have a smiley for listening if it is there I didn't see it)

There is a display for the Z Register, which I'm sure Ian (MyRedZed) will organize

There are displays for "other forums" - however, these places may already be allocated? (Someone would need to speak to the club office)

Check out the club's Flickr page for photos of previous years - http://www.flickr.com/photos/bmwccgb/collections/

p.s. This year is going to be my 10th year at the National :)

Yes Duncan, If you look at .net, there is an earlier thread from Phil, when the ZFest idea first started. There was talk in the beginning that it would be held at the National Festival at Gaydon. Sandy & I were pleased because we had never been there and as a National Heritage Motor Museum, we thought that there be a lot to see. :) The thread is JULY 20-22 2012 ZFEST and it was posted on 11th of July last year.

Is it at same time?

The National Festival is held every year, in mid August
The ZFest is a one-off to celebrate the Z3's 15th birthday

ZFEST - July 20-22 2012
National Festival - 19th August 2012.

"The annual National Festival once again returns to the Heritage Motor Museum in Gaydon CV35 0BJ on 19th August 2012."

So about a month later. I am not sure, being a newbe if we want to be under other forums or what? that was why I was asking for folk thoughts. Do we do something with zregister and is zregister .net or .org or another or what? As a newbie I have no axe to grind I just do not know how these bit come together

I know my zeds will not be concourse material but I would not mind being a part. Maybe I am a little simplistic but I do not have the time spare to trawl the BMWCC and .net and be active here. I am amazed at how some of you manage to be so active ^:)^ tribute ^:)^

I am not sure I understand NeRo as I do not have any past knowledge I guess I am asking do we want to do anything? Sorry NeRo I am being a bit thick!

Regards

The area in front of the museum is for displays of all the different Regions and Registers of the BMWCC - last year the Z Register has 43 spaces (all taken)

There are quite a lot of "other BMW forums", whose members are not BMWCC members, but want to be part of the show - the club sets asides areas for these forums

Have a look through last year's photos to get a feel of the show http://www.flickr.com/photos/bmwccgb/se ... 425273457/

There are more cars to the right of the photo

Looking at the old thread on .net, there where several people in favour of Gaydon. Why did they decide on Silverstone in the end? :-\ Was it because they thought it would be too big for Gaydon?

Gaydon is a BMWCC event in which its possible to take your Z is various different ways:

- in the public parking and not on display
- in the official Z register display area (Z1,3,4,8's parked together)
- in the ///M power display (if you have a Z3m)
- by region (Nero parks in the Scottish region area
- by forum (eg M3cutters I think have their own display area)

Some of the areas are limited to set numbers on first come first served basis.

Tickets are sold prior to the event through the BMWCC

People can decide what suits them.

You also get free entry to the museum (and toilets ;-)

I think Silverstone will be a completely different feel to it as its not a BMWCC event but the club is participating including the Z3 anniversary. Its not just about displaying cars as there is also classic car racing going on.

I'm looking forward to both :coolsteer)

Rest assured that I'll be getting around to sorting out the z register display at Gaydon shortly. One of the main differences to the Silverstone event is that for Gaydon you must be in the z register and realise that tickets are limited for displaying your zed in the z reg area. Watch this space for info.....

Hi my red zed is there any news yet? I feel a real buz to fly the Zorg banner as part of the zregister for this one and we seem the have a real general buz on this site for doing things. I do not have time to do any of the other sites and they may be as active but for me I just want as much with this lot as I can?

I am not trying to pressurise just really eager and wanting to be part of the big events for Zorg.

Duncan

PS Can I volunteer for the North Devon section of the Zregister. (I will even wash of the cow muck especially for the event) somehow though I do not think mine will ever make concourse

Also it is mentioned that there are areas set aside for non BMWCC so should we be trying to get an area specifically for Zorg? Even though we are a part of the Zregister we are also self sustaining as a group.

Bit of a shame! I appear to be going on my lonesome to this one so I have booked Black in with Nick on the Trackday Register stand and Blue in with the general Melee Sorry no one else is coming to help fly the Zog Banner!

Duncan
:(

PS I have left it to the last day to buy my ticket in the hope of getting a Zroadster.org Group but no one appears to want to run with it. When I was buying my tickets Helen said she would check if we had bulked a group and when she came back she said we hadn't! so we definitely could have had our own section of the show to fly the flag.

PPS I only need one other roadster member to come and join me and we can stick up our banner. (If I ask Helen I am sure she would say it was OK)

Probably on the Z Register stand - you should get a pass (which hangs on your mirror?) which tells you which area you're in

I agree with Nero. I have booked Black for the Track in With the Trackday Register and Blue for the road at the moment with The Zeds BUT I am awaiting contact back from Nick to let me know "IF" he would rather have both on the Trackday Register.

If you've got a Z Register area display pass then take a look at the following to orientate yourself ready for this coming Sunday.

This sketch shows where the Z Register area is in relation to other models:

...and this is how we will park the zeds this year. The numbers on the cars are to indicate the order of arrival parking - they DO NOT relate to the number on your display pass!

I'll be on site from approx 8am to direct you all. As with zedfest please make every attempt to park in a straight line as it makes the pictures look so much better ;)
