The refurb place you use sho0uld be able top match it to the original colour (assuming your wheels still have the original colour on). If the place has done BMW M5 (e39) wheels then they should be familiar with it. To be fair as shadow chrome is now so popular most places should be able to match it. The place I used (Rimtec Refurbs in Meopham Kent) let me come check the colour on one of my wheels when I wanted a particular shade to check I was happy before doing the rest.
Thats great thanks, the link showed the S50 and S54 wheel together, so will take the picture to the refurbers. Want to keep it as far to original as possible, Since they are as rare as rocking horse s*** I want to keep it in good condition.
Unfortunately the wheels were refurbed a different colour when I bought the car in April 2012. I got some new tyres fitted and the tyre people totally screwed the wheels, they were badly scuffed on the rims as they had used the tyre jack on the outer rims instead of the inners. Not only that but they told me to pick the car up in the evening so I could not see them in the dark. Saw them the next day and to say they were bad is an understatement. They also put the tyres on in the wrong direction and the front kept going flat, when I left them the tyre warning light was on, I went back and they said there was nothing wrong with them they didnt even know what the tyre deflation light was! I said I wanted them rechecked ;the tyre had dropped in pressure to 25 psi (they could not argue then) I bought the tyres from Black circle and they were Fitted by a local garage. Black Tyres did refurb the wheels for me but with another company. They were very reluctant to drive the car because the wheels were on the wrong way around, he said it was very dangerous! They sprayed them all in the colour that was already on there. To be honest I did not think at the time to get them done in the original colour.
Think the cowboy garage thought because I was a woman they could take the p***. When I took the car back after finding the wheels in such a bad condition the manager had the cheek to say I had curbed them, I said you can see that the damage was on the edge of the rim on the tyre side and could not possible curb them like that and you could see the tool marks in places. He had not a leg to stand on, he said he would sort it forme , I politely said you are not touching my car again! It was that they tried to deceive was the worst bit.
