BMW Z3 1997 2.8 Speaker sizes

Afternoon,

I'm wanting to get my speaker system upgraded but I obviously need to know the sizes of the various speakers in my zed.

There is:

2 x tweeters in the doors
2 x speakers in footwells
2 x speakers (tweeters?) behind seats
1 speaker in between 2 seats
7 in total

Does anyone have any idea?

Are you running an OEM head unit in the car?

I know the foot well speakers are 5.25" off the top of my head...

1 inch tweeters in the front of the door card

5.25 inch mids in front kick panels

3 inch mids rear behind seats

4.5 inch sub in sub enclosure fixed module

does anyone reccomend doing it yourself or getting it done? Replacing the speakers I mean

It's easy to upgrade yourself, and all depends on how much time and money you have spare, lots of time DIY, no time and deep pockets get someone else to do it. DIY you can spend your money on better kit

OK thanks - the guy at the shop recommended Focal as a high quality sound. Had any experience with Focal?

I have not used them, but there access range will be the same as any other budget range speaker system, and should drive ok off an amplified HU, because you have no roof as such, you will need to compromise and create a cross between a PA style system and audiophile system if you want to listen above 50mph, with good sound quality, your dealer should be able to tell you which speakers perform the best in this environment. I have used a lot of trial and error to come up with my system, and will be changing again shortly, since fitting mids where the door tweeters were has changed the sound.
