Driving along the the M6 on sunday in my x3 my daily driver the Dde warning light came on lost all engine power so coasted on to the hard shoulder and phoned the Rac any way when I got the car back to my local garage they informed me there was a large hole in the sump and the engine is a write off because of the age of the car it's a 2006 msport 2 ltr diesel its beyond economical repair the annoying thing is last friday replaced all the tyres with new Dunlops bmw approved ones , there was no warning no bang just the engine cut out
, Anyone interested in an x3spares or repair ?

If it was an X5 yes. And if I had room and it was the right price I’d maybe give an X3 a go anyway. Engine swaps just need a methodical approach. But definitely no room with all the Z3s

Don't be too hasty to scrap your car. I had a secondhand engine fitted in my black zed last Christmas and it cost me £1600 all in, including full service. I saw the engine on Ebay and contacted the seller. It was an 80k engine M52B28 from an E36 he was scrapping. During the conversation he told me it was his own private car and that he was a partner in a BMW garage specialising in M3's. I told him I'd buy his engine and asked if he could fit it for me and we soon agreed the price. I dropped it off at there premises in Bristol during the Christmas holiday and it was ready for me to collect in 3 days.

Hi reasonable outcome today with my old diesel x3 I have sold it to a mechanic at the garage who maintains it he is going to put a new engine in it , onthe plus side my wife has said i have gone to the dark side because I have bought a Suzuki S cross ddis allgrip
