What a great day out! Not been for a couple of years so was refreshing to go back again. Lovely to meet some of the new members, as well as some of the old guard. I've just realised I haven't taken very many photos, so I'll leave it to the other guys to do that. There were a few good moments on the drag strip.

Watching @Twin Turbo scream off the line with what looked like one of the best launches from the many I watched, was a shade over 13 seconds. Looking to seeing what your best time was!

There was an over keen 3 series driver who went full launch control in reverse off the line. Got a filthy look off the marshal before he put it in a forward gear and headed down the strip. Disappointing time posted as a result :bag:

A 3 series estate tore off and his boot popped open spilling the contents on to the strip as he merrily carried on. Was an empty 25 litre water container and a sponge that I could make out along with 2 or 3 other items. One of the marshals had to run down and pick them up.

Someones spoiler was handed in to race control that had come off down the strip. They kept paging the owner over the PA system to come and collect it, whilst they sat in the control booth waving it around like a trophy.

All in all, glad I went!

Gaz

The forum pitch seemed a bit tucked away. We only noticed it as we were leaving at 3pm and nearly no one was there by then.

It was the first single marque car show I've been to since I was a teenager doing the Mk 1/2 Escort circuit.

We had great fun watching the racing and drifting. But I realised looking at all the other BMWs I'm just a Z3 enthusiast and can't get too worked up about BMWs in general. That's not to say there wasn't plenty of hardware I'd happily own.

Where were you?

This must have been father and son I imagine (both 2.8s

Great day. After forecast rain, it was beautiful and a few of us must be imola red.

Some nice cars, some sheds too but nice to see old faces again! And good to see some more new blood to the family

...and I thought I was slacking with 3 :bag:

Sorry we bounced before you and Stacey got back to the car, we tried ringing but didn't get an answer! I have both the flags safe in the boot of my car, although I think you still have the other carry case. Can manage without it anyway as they both fit in one.

Stacey left her phone in the car the dozy bugger! I'll drop the case off on Saturday hopefully

More pictures then...

Good experience as this was my first outing to the pod, didn't run my car down the strip and haven't made my mind up if I will at a later date. Sorry I left so early but turned up with a headache which got even worse to the point of having to leave. Nice to see the Zs on some firm grass and they did attract some attention from passers by
Gaz's Z4 in particular, even I was amazed at the colour. Never seen so many BMWs in one place before, millions of pounds worth of petrol head fodder.
Sorry no pics.

RHA, Roy.

A great day out, I have never been to Santa Pod before and it was a worthwhile experience. I will never be a drag racing fan, I like corners too much but t was good to see. An amazing variety of BMW's on show and some really way out modifications..

Dad versus David:

Dad gets a good start, sits down at the back......

Yes dads winning

Dad edging ahead....:racecar:

Hang on a minute::dog:

uh oh

1 spectator interested:

Well, You don't like to make your son unhappy, so I eased off:

G8jka 15.88 and 90.34mph, me 16.08s and 87.18 mph

both 2.8s, but one of his slowest times, and I struggled with a few runs just below the 16s mark
work to do for next year......

he broke into the 14s as well though, so he went head to head with Ben.. and Ben is tooooooo fast for me
Watch out for the next episode .....

@Uncle_Clanger lovely to meet you Awesome Zed mate
Great to meet you & Martin plus a few of the guys in person, hopefully we can have a proper natter at Shepshed...was a bit distracted all those nice Zs in one place! ... My Z is starting to look how I'd like thanks...but still loads of stuff to do underneath, which is well out of my league!.. But plenty of time to learn.

I saw Roy's black Z pull in but unfortunately didn't get a chance to say Hi....Next time.

David gets a super start:

left him for dead:

"bye Ben.....

"Hello again David"

"you don't get rid of me that easily"

"back at ya David:"

"look at the times David"

Ben is just too fast.....
