That must cost a fortune to recycle like that, and the guys were working for BMW it seemed?

prototype car destruction after trials?

That's what I figured. The video kind of gave me the creeps seeing cars so clinically and heartlessly dismantled.

When I dismantle a car it's done with love and respect and Rev Scalex says a few words before it's taken for its final journey!

Just read more about it.

It's BMWs own recyclers to remove all pre production models from the market

That's sad, i have just been to Gaygon heritage museum this month, and seeing some of the concept and pre production cars was so interesting, some of my Triumph club cars are pre production

Keeping an interest for the future

I would imagine BMW are pretty much up there with anyone else when it comes to their archive. Their museum in Munich is rammed and I'm sure their backup collection is bigger again if anything. We know they have items like the V12 Z3 and I assume they kept the last one off the production line too.

I guess they can't keep everything that's all. And it's a shame they can't do something more creditable with those recycled cars. But the fallout from letting thrashed/sub-standard cars go out just wouldn't be worth it.
