I just wondered how many people are members of their local (to your country) car club. Those that are members, maybe you can post some info here of the benefits of being a member of the club so that anyone that might be thinking about joining can see why it's a good idea :)

Hi I am a member of the UK BMWOC, although I do not go to the various club meets for my local area, the monthly magazine is very good, I also have benefited from the discount which is given from BMW and various other suppliers.
I would definitely recommend

I have not long been a member but i have received for free, the straight six magazine every month for the last 3 months which would have cost me £15 . There are numerous ways of saving money on different days out and i only paid £45 for the year. I also met the guys who run the Club and they are a superb bunch of dedicated bmw owners. :-bd

I'm very active in the Scottish Region - see http://www.bmwccscotland.co.uk/

We have a great group in Scotland with a monthly Drive & Dine. We also attend a number of shows, including Gaydon
We also do a Show & Shine competition in June
(I offer an open invite to attend meetings - I'll try and post up events to remind you)

Apart from mentioned above, there are a number of financial benefits i.e.
  • dealer discount on services, parts & labour
    various discounts e.g ECP
    discount on Insurance

You'll find subsequent years will be cheaper if you do Direct Debit

I would highly recommend joining :)

I am a member, the discounts can be handy and the mag is good. Not been to any meets yet though. Oh yes, you get a window sticker when you join which you can place just above the tax disc :D

I paid my subs for the first time over Christmas, so just waiting to receive my membership details.

Previously was a member of the Land Rover Series II club, and it was worth it just for the magazine. Will be interesting to see how useful the BMWCC membership is in comparison.

Hi

I am a member
when I insured the ///M on a Classic policy, they wanted an affiliation to a club.
So it was a good excuse to join, i have not used any of its discount benefits yet.

The club also does valuations for insurance, so that if you have a claim you get a more realistic value for your car.

I'm a BMWCC member and it's worth it just for the magazine and running 3 BMWs the parts discount is worth having as well.

I've been to a few meets. The behind the scenes visits to dealers are good and Matt usually has a day at his detailing shop doing demos etc.

I've been a member for a couple of years now. Recently taken over as z reg chairman which has got me more involved with the running of the club. I look forward to the magazine every month and have had an article published that got me a voucher to spend. The discount on parts at the BMW dealer is worth having and discounts elsewhere (e.g. eurocarparts) are worth it too. There's a very good hotel discount (35%) that's just been negotiated by the club with IHG hotels (Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza).

Note that I get to write a z register news article every month for the magazine - if you'd like your zed featured then do get in touch. Jonttt and Gookah have been featured recently, look out for board in February where there's also a mention of .org ;)

I just looked at my membership card and noticed it has the joined date on which was November 2000. I have saved a bunch of money with the discounts on parts and servicing as well as picking up invaluable advice over the years from the magazine for all things BMW.

I look forward to the magazine every month as it is a proper meaty magazine, not one of these 10 page jobs stapled together with a bit of info in and a few pictures. You can see a lot of effort goes into putting it together and it shows in the results.

Hopefully I don't get into trouble (let me know MRZ :) )but so you can see here are some pictures of the November ed. taken on my phone in bad light but you should get the idea :)

I found the BMWCC last year when I bought my first Z3 and started reading the Zregister entries in straight six. I wanted to join in on some of the track days this year that were advertised in the November/December issue of straight six and when I talked to Helen at the BMWCC about that she also asked if had I signed up with the Register and that was how I signed up for the Zfest in Zroadster.net and then a .org member mentioned that .org had a hotel that a group were meeting up at so I joined Zroadster.org. Never in a million years did I expect to get such a great reception and to get so involved. :-bd

So what do I think of the BMWCC (biased I know) but I think they are great and I cannot thank Helen at the BMWCC enough for introducing me to all of you reprobates! :-bd :coolsteer) (*) worth £45???????? For me worth a lot more and I have not yet started to learn where I can save money. neither of my cars are on "classic" insurance in fact one at the moment is not insured (I cannot afford to insure 3 cars at one time) I plan to use the temporary car part of my policies to cover for the black one.

I am currently sat in a Holiday Inn Express and after reading this I was able to save £120+ by re-booking the remainder of the stay using the BMWCC link in the members area. ;)
