I have got some small patches of corrosion on the corners of the front roof panel of the e89, about the size of a 5p it is apparently quite common on some older models. I happen to read a few weeks ago that BMW have a 12 year corrosion warranty. 
Now the car is 11 years old (and a few months) what's the odds I thought. Anyway I phoned Cotswold BMW in Cheltenham and asked. No problem take the car to our Tewkesbury body shop for inspection and we will forward the claim to BMW UK.
So last Monday we wasted a few litres of fuel and had a trip to Tewkesbury, dropped the car in to BMW for 20 minutes then went off for a spot of lunch and a ride out thinking there was little chance of anything else positive coming out of the trip.
Just got a phone call from Cotswold asking me to drop the car back to them for the work to be done under warranty
she is going in tomorrow afternoon. Now ask me how surprised I am. 
So all you e89 owners check your roof and clam shell for any signs of corrosion and if you have any get in touch with your local dealer.
