Bl**dy rain still getting in!

Having sorted the rain that came in round and through the door seals on my Z3, I now have a constant drip from the screen pillar. In my photo I have actually captured a drop just falling. It is dripping constantly and will make the floor soaking again without an ice cream tub to collect the water.

The question is, how is the water getting to that point to enter the car? Any ideas?

Mike when it stops raining open the hood and look at the top rubber on the 'A' pillar there is a sort of triangle in the middle of it make sure there is no splits or cracks in it as that can be a point of ingress there is z thread about this somewhere.

Yeah, I know about that one Stephen and have already glued a rubber cover over that point. Good suggestion though.

Mike is a but 15 mile as the crow flies.
That will be the first rain there for weeks glad I am not there to see it .

You may well have already done these, but a couple of basics -
i) Have you checked the drainage weep holes either end of the channel along the top of the screen.
ii) have you treated the rubber seals with Gummi pflege or similar to ensure they are flexible.

Personally, I am not in favour of fitting patches, unless rubber has split, as they can create high spots. `A' pillar rubbers usually leak due to degradation of adhesive seal(easily resealed) or lack of flexibility (treat with gummi pflege) - other opinions are, and no doubt will be, available .

For leak path tracing smear thin layer of vaseline along inner seal contour and dust with talcum powder or similar. When it leaks , open up hood and you should be able to see leak path. HTH - good luck.

OK. My son and I had a careful look and discovered that the windscreen seal was not fitting well at the top corner - see first photo. I imagine a replacement screen has been put in at some time and it hasn't been done particularly well. So we dried the area and stuck plastic tape over the seal-to-frame edge. After a night of rain there is only a small number of drops in my container. If we had left it alone the container would have been full. Once the car is dry again (the sun is out this morning) I shall inject some black windscreen sealer behind the rubber and maybe that will do the trick.
