After both doing euro trips last year both Me and Mozza have decided to go on holiday in August, obviously we have to take the other halfs We leave Friday 9th August Down to Dover for either Ferry or Channel tunnel Friday we either stay in Calais (even mozza doesnt know this bit) or drive slightly south to Berk sur Mer We then Drive to Mulhouse France and stay Saturday night here. http://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/espace- ... bed629bfX1 Then on Sunday we drive into Switzerland and stay at a place called Oberwald which is in the middle of the Furkapasse and stay at the Hotel Alpenhof Then after taking in the remainder of the Furkapasse we travel over to lake como staying here till Friday http://www.booking.com/hotel/it/le-rocc ... cde0f0e9X1 Then we have booked a Villa in Tarregona till the following Saturday before we drive home Saturday and Sunday. All hotels and villa are booked. I will post the proposed routes when i have pulled them off my Garmin. Both me and Mozza will update this thread as we go. Saturday 10/8/13 Route http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=50.95 ... mra=ls&z=7 Sunday 11/8/13 Route http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=47.74 ... mra=ls&z=8 Monday 12/8/13 Route http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=46.53 ... mra=ls&z=9 These will probably change when mozz gets back and we have a proper sit down and go through the routes. We plan on maxamising our time in the Alps to take as much as possible in, instead of blasting through and then wishing we had done it differently. Luckily both me and Maurice have the same ideas and are both very flexible and willing to adjust to each other. bill
Re: Mine and Mozzas Euro Trip IF we were married we wouldnt like the same things Anyway im pledged to Swamper after the toilet incident in Spain. Had two great road trips for the last two years an lookin forward to this. To be honest i liked the Stelvio area (last year now )with Taffzee i could spend a month just cruising round the region and still want more.the scenery is awsome. Glad Billz was able to come this year too long to wait till 2014. Moz
I am pleased to say that Brian (zedwheels) has been in touch and has decided hopefully to join me and Maurice on our Euro Trip in August, so long as his wife can get the dates off at work. Good one Brian bill
Yes me and Linda are hoping now that she can sort out her holiday dates to suit, we are more or less fairly sure that it will be ok so i have pre-booked all the accommodation for the first week so far. Thats the trouble with nursing the cutbacks within the NHS on staffing means that her holidays were allocated by the ward manager and she now has to swap dates with others, what a shambles!! ~x(
Hi Brian. So your maybe comming along too.Sure your gonna enjoy it.great roads and scenery. Its something every roadster owner should do..Weve certainly enjoyed our last two trips.and lookin forward to this one also. Moz
Hiya Moz, yes hope it all turns out ok now, maybe if Linda cant change her work rota i will have to come on my own!!! You and Bill wont go too fast for me will you.
No excuses Brian you have the quickest car We went exactly the same time last year and temps were around 33 to 38 degrees in the shade, highest we clocked on the z was 40 degrees, but the good news is that its a bit cooler in the Alps so plenty of sun, scenery and really really good roads Bring on August bill
All that sunshine I will have to wear two lots of raybans to cut out the glare from two silver birds! I can see me now over those twisty mountain roads. x_x
Mrs Zed and I stayed in Mulhouse on our European jaunt last year. You must, must, must, must visit the Schlumpf collection. http://www.citedelautomobile.com/en/home There are no excuses not to go as petrol heads it is your duty to go. You can not go to Mulhouse and not go to the Schlumpf museum.
Also may I suggest that your route to Mulhouse goes through France so that you can stop off at Reims.
We are actually on about staying a rheims and going in to mulhouse via the ballon le grand route. Hoping to give us a few hours to spend at mulhouse to do the museum. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Not on about it.WE ARE,the boys are doing it while the wives stay at the hotel and clean the cars Moz
You Lucky Lucky People you, but Maurice knows my opinion, once you have seen one mountain you have seen them all and the way Maurice drove up the Stelvio Pass last year and knowing that Bill drives like an old lady, its a bit of a mismatch of driving partners if you ask me ) Hope Zedwheels is able to join you, as you have to do a Alps trip if you have a zed. Sounds like a cracking route, I m sure you will all enjoy it :-bd
And for me too Bill. Us two oldies, me and the Alien will be there following you in our "mobility carriages" so you will have to be gentle with us!!!
