The SLK is a sloath compared to a Zed. How did it come down to these two? :confused:

And above all of this the main thing missing from the SLK, was a straight six motor.

)

My sister knows nothing about cars. I mean nothing. When I bought my Z3 I sent her a photo of it. Her reply was 'Very nice. When are you starting your hairdressing lessons?' Made me laugh, but I guess it sums up the world at large's opinion of cars like the Z3, Z4 and SLK.

Before I bought my Z3 I did think quite seriously about an SLK 320. Quite quick and the metal roof was a novelty. The main concern was that they were made during the period when M-B cost reduction was at its height. There were so many rusty ones around with tatty interiors. Then I remembered the 735i I'd owned a few years before and its turbine smooth straight six engine. Decision made - had to be the BMW. Mind you, I have to say that the build quality out of the South Carolina factory where the Z3 was made wasn't truly exemplary.....

I have owned an SLK
The SLK was nice with the roof down and boring with it up.
Roof down was just because of the convertible experience.
Car had a cavernous boot with the roof up but next to nothing with it down.

Dealership was rubbish, and the service prices extortionate.
You even chose the SLK over a Z3. I remember going to look at a grey one with you at Howarths, a 1.9 sport if I remember?

I'd choose an SL over the SLK every time. If I ever swap my Z3 it will be for an SL

It was a 2.2 sport, but because we had to transport a golfer around the country I chose the one with a bigger boot.
Anyway, don't get on at me,...... you actually won a brand new Z3, and didn't want it !!!!

Z3's boot is plenty big enough, you just didn't know how to pack it. And it's not that I didn't want it, thats the stupid rules set out for amatuer golfers by the R&A. That would have been a W reg like mine now, it was back in 2000. I actually bought some Z3 sunglasses with the voucher they gave me for the stealers, wish I'd kept them.
