I'm slowly gathering all the bits I need to overhaul the cooling system etc on the 3.0 ... Went for ContiTech belts. Schmiedmann "reinforced" water pump (which is has metal impeller... But looks curiously like a regular Merle brand) not expensive though.
Now how about belt tensioners? I read you can change the pulleys only, but also read that's not advisable if you have a certain type of tensioner, hydraulic or spring.
I think I'd be happier changing both tensioners as I'm doing the whole lot, I can get 2 INA brand tensioners at reasonable money. Are they spring or hydraulic? Are they decent quality? German I think but who knows.
I want to choose good stuff as from what I've read everything is dependant on everything else so fitting a below par part could cause failure of the better stuff. I know it's not a science but I'm interested to know how people choose parts. This is something new to me.
