as the above got me thinking for future planning...if i was to go for a BBK conversion..say porsche boxster s brake ...where do you get the carriers from?
i know i would need to move up sizes of wheels so they fit.
or are there BMW alternatives?

Hi Swamper,

Looked at big brake kits the other week but not specifically Porsche, a search on eBay and google turned up quite a few kits which include calipers, discs, pads and calipers brackets. Prices seem to vary so I suppose you get what you pay for. Lots of kits over the pond it seems.

Ebay search

The link above is just a few of the options.

im just starting to research it Brian...it seems that some have gone down the Porsche route...but iv always wondered how they hang them.
that got me thinking if theres bigger BMW or even Audi ones out there and what would be needed to hang them.
you can quite easily get bigger disks so thats not a problem.
im just bored and looking for summat to have a nosey into lol

I am fitting z3 3.0 calipers and discs to my 1.9, but idid look at the Porsche brake upgrade, what put me off was having to machine the bosses on the calipers, which I thought was risky if one got scrapped during the process, bit of a tight wad! But this is something to bear in mind if you are doing the mod, you may need some machining work, also I believe the calipers are fatter, so may need wheel spacers depending on which you have to clear the calipers.

Other than those issues I think it will look a cool modification

Fit better pads to your OEM setup and that will be all you need for road use.

Having said that the stopping power of a full porsche turbo big red setup is frieghtening ;-)

Some times it's about doing something just because it can be done...........and looks cool to the bargain

I agree, but my car is standard, it will stay that way.

I spend enough time on it keeping it concours condition.

And I think that is great too, each to his own as they say, I will judge your concourse condition at Santa Pod, I have your rosette ready!

It's not concours really, just clean for the age.

I've seen concours cars at shows, and they are in a different league.

Any car can be made concours if you throw the money at it.

But I love the thing, it's cheap cosy, and gives me the horn!
