Battery terminal problems

I hate the BMW battery terminals with the small vertical bolt for tightening the terminals. Mine are constantly loose so I get a clicking when starting the car and have to open the boot, give the terminals a wiggle and then it will start. I have the same problem on my other Z3's and my daughters beetle. Is there a solution?
I have tried cutting a thin piece of steel and ramming it between the terminal and battery post but with limited success.
Why can't they use a simple and foolproof standard battery clamp.

I have never had any issues with my terminals. I have replaced the battery once in the 8 or so years of having the car. I'm going to go check it now thanks to you. :)

Replace the connectors! Get bolt to wire ones and cut the old ones off.

I recently had similar issues, in fact i could actually lift the whole connector of the battery they were that bad. (have recently acquired my Z3).
I purchased new T bolts and replaced both, now tight and secure.

When i took the old T bolts of they were both double threaded, maybe previous owner had got thread happy, and just used brut force to tighten rathen that undo and tighten correctly.

I have one car where the terminals are tight, I will swap the T bolts over and see if it makes any difference but they have not been cross threaded.
Worth a go.

Biggest issue you get with battery terminals is the people do not loosen them enough on removal so that they're loose enough to lift off. Sometimes you can fix this by loosening the fixing and tapping the clamp down fully onto the tapered battery terminal post before tightening the clamping bolt.
