Hey guys with this colder weather Victor appears to have developed an issue.

I initially thought it was a bad battery and have replaced, however its happened again. Does anyone know of any common issue with the z3 issue as follows.

Battery flat. Jump Starts fine without issue and a quick 15 min trip to work is sufficient to restore power to the battery. Ie I can from having bump started 15 mins later, start the car via the ignition. As stated I have changed the battery thinking the cold weather was causing issues. I think this leaves me with 3 possibilities.

1. New battery could also be bad.but I doubt it.
2. Alternator is not doing the job as well as it could be?... how do I check.
3. Something is draining the battery that shouldnt be. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Mark

In my z3 I had an issue with the boot light staying on after I'd closed the boot. It's worth checking by placing a camera on record in the boot.

Your diagnosis was spot on sir. :) Many thanks.

Wish I'd asked the question before I bought a new battery.
It appears the pointy thing has worn a dimple in the switch.
So the solution is to either find a new switch, extend the pointy thing, or fill something into the whole where the switch dimple is..

What did you do?

Thanks again.

I just disconnected the wire that controls the light in the boot, some people remove the bulb.

I'm not sure what the proper fix for it is, but a temporary measure would be to remove the bulb in the boot.
