Hi can anyone recommend a battery isolator. Just to stop the battery going flat if I don't use the car for a few weeks.thanks

Are those chargers?
Hi mate, C-TEK or similar are spot on and can be left on permanently as they're not "battery chargers" but battery conditioning units. I worked overseas for 3 years and left my C-TEK on 24/7, worked as advertised.
If you’re going to use an isolator you may as well just disconnect the earth lead. Better to use something like Andy suggested. I have one for when I leave mine for a few weeks.

They "trickle charge the battery and regulate voltage at about 2 amps. They also stop when the battery is full so as to not cook the battery dry.

I tried one of those but found it caused more problems than it solved. Car lives outside so I use a solar power charger. Can't beat using the car regularly. It's rude not to.
A good point, if it wasn't for the rot-inducing salt all over the place at the moment! Agree that it is a bit of a basic solution - I think the previous owner installed it as a "security device"!

On 3 or 4 occasions, I would start the car OK and then drive off. Within seconds the car would stop with no electrical activity available.
I would solve that by loosening the isolator green knob and retightening it. Car would then start and run OK until the next time.
It was particularly embarrassing when returning to the car in a multi-storey car park and pulling out of the bay only to have everything go dead.
I decided it was more trouble than it was worth and bypassed the isolator by bolting the lead back on to the battery terminal.
I left the isolator in place because it's terminal clamp is more robust than the standard one that was on the car.
