Hi can anyone recommend a battery isolator. Just to stop the battery going flat if I don't use the car for a few weeks.thanks
Are those chargers?I use a Battery Tender for motorcycles.
Hi mate, C-TEK or similar are spot on and can be left on permanently as they're not "battery chargers" but battery conditioning units. I worked overseas for 3 years and left my C-TEK on 24/7, worked as advertised.Hi can anyone recommend a battery isolator. They "trickle charge the battery and regulate voltage at about 2 amps. They also stop when the battery is full so as to not cook the battery dry.Are those chargers?
I tried one of those but found it caused more problems than it solved. Car lives outside so I use a solar power charger. Can't beat using the car regularly. It's rude not to.I have a screw type isolator similar to this on my VW Bug...:
A good point, if it wasn't for the rot-inducing salt all over the place at the moment! Agree that it is a bit of a basic solution - I think the previous owner installed it as a "security device"!I tried one of those but found it caused more problems than it solved. What sort of "problems" did it cause?I tried one of those but found it caused more problems than it solved.

On 3 or 4 occasions, I would start the car OK and then drive off. Within seconds the car would stop with no electrical activity available. What sort of "problems" did it cause?
