Battery Change and Preserving Car Memory

Good morning Zedders. I have a feeling my Z3 car battery may be nearing the end and was wondering if I could have your thoughts on the best way to preserve the car's computer memory settings on change over.

hi i replaced mine 6 months ago ( cost £56 or there about ) just old one out ..new one in no probs

Not much to worry about as it will only be disconnected for a minute or so.

I have often had my battery disconnected for hours with no problems,

Depending on what type of head unit you have, you may lose the station pre-sets or if it's the original one you will likely lose the security code. Always happened on my Z3. Easily avoidable with a plug for a cig lighter with a meter or so of cable and croc. clips on. Plug into the cig lighter and clip the wires onto a second battery in the foot well, making sure you have the polarity correct, before disconnecting your own.
