Hi folks, I have been quoted silly money for a new battery fitting on my 1998, 2.8, Z3....I can purchase a Bosch battery the same as the one on the car now for half the cost and thought I could fit myself....only 2 leads to disconnect...I am just uncertain what will happen with my alarm system when I put new one in, I know I need to reset car radio and have the code but will the car alarm start going and not be able to stop it....or will it just run as normal.....thanks for your thoughts..

I disconnected my battery to do some work on the car, the alarm went off for a minute or so and then died. When finished I reconnected the battery and all was fine.
I then discovered what the extra key is on my keyring, it's to disable the alarm 😱

How common is the battery isolation switch? Fitted in the boot, it allows me to garage for 4 months then starts first time. Real game changer.
