Something that has been looked at for years but in the to difficult tray. Side ejections and even vertical post ejection of the rotors. Very complex though. Shouldn't really be a problem with auto rotation, however ........UPDATED: 14:22 GMT, 2 August 2015
A Russian helicopter crashed during an air show, killing one member of the crew and injuring another.
The Mi-28 helicopter gunship was part of a flight of helicopters performing aerobatics at the Dubrovichi firing range in Ryazan region, about 105miles south-east of Moscow.
The surviving crew member managed to eject before the crash and is in a stable condition,

Interesting, did not know that, we were taught, if you were still alive, to get out through a window.Something that has been looked at for years
I'd guess downwards? Must be bloody scary though. How the hell do you "eject" from a chopper?
Bit risky though if your flying low I'd have thought?I'd guess downwards? Must be bloody scary though.
Tony.
Downwards ejections were discounted for that reason. You'd be a boil in the bag soup in less than a second (if to low) with no time to separate from your ejection seat and the drogue chute would not have time to deploy the main chute.Bit risky though if your flying low I'd have thought?
