Alright guys.
I sold my last Z4 last year and it was instant regret as soon as the new owner drove it away. I'd had it 4/5 years and done 20,000+ miles in it, the majority of wish were strictly "fun" miles doing road trips to Wales, the Scottish Highlands and into Europe as well as local-ish horns around the Yorkshire Dales and Moors.
I expected to be Z-less for the foreseeable, with the intention of maybe treating myself to an E89 in a few years time however I found myself browsing the Z4 forum and AutoTrader adverts, pretty much within a couple of months!
I spotted this a few weeks back and instantly fell in love - it was a 3.0i manual (a must), in Sterling Grey (the best colour right?), and had all the modifications carried out that I'd have liked to have done to mine. I thought it was up for a good price but managed to talk myself out of it, telling myself the mileage was far too high (153k) and it'd only sit around unused through the week like my last one.
A fortnight later and I came across the advert again, it was still for sale and the price had dropped a few hundred. I fired a few messages back and forth with the seller and went to bed all giddy! Woke up in the morning and I was constantly flitting between excitement and pangs of guilt. Eventually thinking sod it I'll take it, I roped the Mrs in to driving down to Coalville to "take a look" knowing full well I'd be bringing it home.
Anyway, long story short it's back home with me.
I've not managed to have a proper run out to take some proper photos but here's a couple from the previous owners. Full credit to Mr Lozzer and Tombstone for the effort put in to the car.
So, spec wise it's pretty impressive. Sat nav, cruise control, 10 speaker DSP system and wind deflector as standard. Along with:
Immediate plans are to give it a full service and address a couple of cosmetic issues. The high level brake light is cracked (common problem, I had to do this on my last one), it needs a new piece of glass on the passenger side wing mirror and there's a scratch along one of the Aero skirts. I have new centre caps to go on the freshly powder coated wheels too.
I'll check the rocker cover gasket as there's no mention of that being replaced, same for the DISA valve. Hopefully the brake lines aren't too bad either.
Tyres aren't the best but have plenty of tread so seems to bin them so soon. As I'll be doing limited mileage over the next few months I'll probably wait till next to year to get a new set of Eagle F1's on along with a Hunter alignment.
It drives great, definitely wouldn't think it was a 15 year old 150k mile car. The M wheel absolutely transforms the car, I can now see why these are so sought after. Love the seats however I'm slightly concerned as to how that alcantara will hold up, but I guess we'll see.
Oh, and the DLV exhaust work that's been carried out is amazing! Always thought the standard 3.0i system was too quiet as stock. This one has all the grin inducing pops and bangs without the drone that often comes with it. Would definitely recommend getting this done to your car if you haven't already.
So, looking forward to getting on some runs out with you all!
