Write Up AV8 7 October 2023

Had a fantastic day out in the Cotswolds. Nice early morning drive up to Burford, then a quick detour onto some of my favourite roads, then on to AV8 cafe for the FB group meeting. Resisted the temptation to go to Caffeine & Machine, so got to the café early and had breakfast there. Very nice, with a view of some old planes parked up on the grass. In a moment of weakness, I decided to take up the offer of going up in a chase plane for the Spitfire flying experience running from the airport. Unforgettable experience. The AV8 meet up had about 25 Z3’s and there was a convoy back to Classic Motor Hub. If you’re anywhere near this, I highly recommend coming along to the next one in spring.

What a fantastic experience to see a Spitfire in its natural habitat so close.
Nice collection of cars too.. that Renault is my favourite.
Which FB group is it? I don’t really use FB but still seem to be a member of about 10 Z3 groups

It was amazing. The Spitfire sits on the wing on one side, then goes underneath to the other side, then does a classic breakaway and pretends to try shoot down the chase plane, then overtakes. On bread and water for the rest of the year now.

Oh this looks absolutely brilliant! Your photos are amazing and what an incredible experience from start to finish. Can you try to post about the Spring event ahead of it on here please? I don’t use FB but would love to come along to the next one in the Spring.
