So, from JULY this year in Florida you will be able to buy and USE a totally autonomous vehicle on the public roads. Just seen this on WFTV.com and no, it's not April 1st again it's the real deal.
How long before it comes to a road near you?

There's no way I would want to give up driving - but look up videos of the Tesla Model S in self drive mode - phenomenal.
The future is closer than you think.

I think you're right Ian. The guy on TV just now stated that these vehicles will never, Fail to stop at a stop sign, Change lanes without indicating or even run into the rear of another vehicle. ( by the way they say automatic braking will be on all new cars by 2022 I think)

They will be trialling "driverless trucks in Cumbria soon

Just think if you have a knock with one of these Trucks and get out shouting at the thing, you'll probably get an answer something like this, " good morning sir or madam I've calculated that when I moved over into your lane I had plenty of time to make the manoeuvre safely, my camera also calculated that you were approaching at 90+mph and so had no choice but to record it and inform the motorway police, good day"
