Just browsing round and there doesn't seem to be many owners or for sale of them?

Is the Z3 a poor automatic or just a rare beast?

Cheers.

Got to be a manual for me. I want to be mechanically connected to the rear wheels when I drive, not via a slush box!

(Other opinions are available!)

My first Z was Auto way back in 1998 probably better now days with the amount of traffic we have to endure. Probably better in the bigger engine cars as it does zap performance in smaller engines.
But nice for cruising if it's a smaller engine.

I have just bought a 2.8 auto. well impressed!!! I have been driving our other manual 2.8 for a while but the clutch is well heavy, same in my sons.... the 1.9 is a little lighter I think......I think the auto box was an extra option from the factory, add a few ££££s to the price.
Mine is great for cruising but when you want the power, its there!

My 3.0 sport is auto and I love it.
I’ve recently bought a z4 coupe manual and wish I’d held off for an automatic.

I love my Z3 but In hindsight .....I think an auto would have been a better option. basically because I’m just lazy !

Question to all the clever people.....and just out of curiosity......Is it possible to convert a z3 manual to auto?..

Yes, but in my opinion it wouldn't be cost effective

Come on..... Stick a 2.8 in 4th :coolsteer)and you can be lazy and potter about down to 1000rpm if you want to.
