New to purchasing parts - sorry if I have not found posts about this already.

Decided to carry out some preventive maintenance work on my new to me M32 2.8 with no service history

I will be changing all of the oils in the engine, gearbox & diff; New copper brake lines and braided flexibles; Oil separator hoses / regulating valve; Water pump, drive belt & hoses & thermostat housing etc; Vacuum control - all hoses & valves etc

Spent a few hours on RealOEM which I found to be excellent sorted out a long list of parts to buy

I found a few online sites - AUTODOC seems pretty good - mixture of parts from Febi Bilstein - Gates - Ridex - Pierburg - as far a I can tell they seem to supply decent quality.
Compared to BMW branded parts there is a considerable saving around 50%

I have not placed the order as yet - I thought I would ask you all whether you always go for BMW parts or shop around?

There used to be some other good sellers from Lithuania and Germany but thanks to Brexit the gift that keeps on so giving🤬they won’t deliver to little old Blighty anymore.
Or they will deliver, but with a minimum purchase price that incurs both VAT and Duty.

I've bought quite a few Z3 bits from Autodoc. My last couple of purchases were 2 front wings and new exhaust brackets. Delivery is usually around a week and prices and quality are ok

Good range of Brands and good prices but they do add on delivery and delivery can take at least a week.

Were the front wings decent? i.e. shape and fit etc

TIA

Used them loads, quick to arrive <week. Good place if you have a shopping list and will spend a bit. Singular items - local motor factor as saving is negligible and next day but maybe not the range of quality manufacturers. I recommend autodoc if you have a good >£100 list and aren't time dependant. PAy ~£6 extra =can have 100 days to return parts. I've spent a fair bit with them, though during the pandemic.

OEM parts, FEBI/lemforder, meyle. Better parts Meyle HD...... - wouldn't buy via dealer (stealer) if you DIY, get better and cheaper. Ridex? Cheapest - I do have a thermostat to fit, but a simple job for part to measure temp temp. Good luck

I have used them over the last few years for main dealer type items and never had a problem, just got a Z3 windscreen washer pump from them a third of the main dealer price, usually takes up to a week to arrive but otherwise my go to supplier.

No wonder they call them Stealers Vinny

I haven't fitted them yet but they come zinc plated and primed. They seem very good quality and I have no reason to think they wont fit just like OEM
