Anyone got any views on "Lifetime auto fluid". My 2.8 Z3 has covered 74k now & I'm not happy that the oil has never been changed.
I've got a quote for £400 to change the oil & filters but understand that a substantial amount of the old fluid remains in the torque converter.
Anyone had theirs changed??

My son had trouble with the Auto box in his CooperS and took it to specialist [Good reputation and only work on Auto box,s] box needed a rebuild at 80,000 miles and they considered it was entirely due to the oil loosing its properties. Surprising how much work they did for main dealers on cars only 3/5 years old and over 75,000 miles Interestingly in some countrys BMW include gearbox oil changes in the service at around 80,000 miles. Afraid I consider "never needs changing" as meaning until the part needs changing instead of oil.

I agree but I'm not happy to part with £400 if a substantial amount of the old oil remains in the torque converter. I'll have to see if i can find a local auto specialist to see if there's a way to change all or most of the old oil

Some oil will remain in the converter, unless it is removed that is unavoidable. I changed the Auto box oil on my Z3 including the filter in the gearbox. The oil was quite expensive and required around 7 later. IIRC. Parts and oil were probably £125 (ish - it's a good few years ago now). I did this at around 70,000 miles
I did a "How to" write up which is on here.

I've found two companies who use a flushing machine & claim to replace 98% of the old fluid. Flushes through pipes etc as well so sounds like a good option. Had a quote for £306 including replacing filters so I think it's a no brainer!!....
