Audio cutting out

Just seeing if anybody knows cars back on rd now but have changed standard head unit stereo for aftermarket one it has internal amp 45x4 output and z3 has harmon kardon set up with standard sub woofers that came with car but when I turn new stereo up past half way subs cut out does anybody have any suggestions thanks Jason

Yes it's called clipping, your trying to push too much power through the speakers, best solution, having been there is to bypass the BMW wiring and amplifiers by putting in new speaker wire, at least you can revert to factory when selling if needed.
